Teen Girl Arrested, Charged for Homosexual Affair

Kaitlyn Hunt is by most accounts a bright, intelligent young high school senior who had a promising future ahead of her.

That is, until she was arrested, expelled from Sebastian River High School in Sebastian, Florida, and criminally charged for having a homosexual affair with a 15-year-old girl in her class.

The Florida state attorney in the case says the charges will not be dismissed despite a petition drive from the public.

Her parents have put up a Facebook page to drum up support for Kaitlyn, who is facing charges of lewd and lascivious battery of a child 12 to 16 years of age that could be punishable by up to 15 years in prison and force her to register as a sexual predator.

According to CBS, Kaitlyn first met the younger girl at school, and they began dating in November. Up until that time, her mom says, Kaitlyn was interested in boys.

Kaitlyn’s mother, Kelly Hunt Smith, says she was surprised but didn’t take any measures to stop Kaitlyn from entering a consensual homosexual relationship: “This was unusual for Kate, she has always dated boys, but being the kind of mother I am, I didn’t want to make it a big deal.”

The other girl’s parents apparently weren’t so blase about their daughter’s decision to reject their Christian values. They blamed Kaitlyn for leading their daughter astray, so they called the police in February.

Since only Kaitlyn’s parents have gone public to tell their side of the story, it’s unclear why the other girl’s parents didn’t call police sooner. Regardless, Kaitlyn was arrested in February, hauled to the police station and eventually charged.

The state attorney in the case said that Kaitlyn has until Friday to accept a plea agreement that would subject her to two years of house arrest followed by a year of probation.

Since the arrest, two judges have ruled that she could continue at her old school, but the school board expelled her anyway, and now she is finishing her senior year at an alternative school.

Kaitlyn’s parents say the other girl’s parents never talked to them before resorting to involving the police. “These people never came to us as parents, never tried to speak to us, didn’t try to get the school involved to speak to us and tell us they had a problem with the girls dating, not one single word,” according to the Facebook page. “Instead, they set out their vengeance and had my child arrested on FELONY charges.”

This case just involves multiple layers of stupidity, most of it coming from the adults.

First, Kaitlyn’s parents should bear much of the blame here. Based on the mother’s reaction to her daughter’s sudden switching of teams, it seems obvious that her parents are more concerned with being PC and “cool” than they are with dissuading their daughter from making phenomenally bad decisions that could ruin her and another girl’s lives.

The girlfriend’s parents don’t look so good here, either. They claim to be Christians, and I 100 percent support their belief that homosexuality is a sin and they need to protect their child from the secular pro-homosexual attitudes that are ruining so many lives. However, involving the police, not even trying to talk to Kaitlyn’s parents and ruining another young girl’s life are not the acts of true Christians. They should be hanging their heads in shame and dropping the charges.

Then there is the school board, which is doubly the villain, first in throwing a promising student out of school because of what is basically a dispute between two families. It’s a pretty safe bet, too, that the school district has a sex education program, and it would not be the least bit surprising if it encourages children, particularly girls, to “try being gay.” The Left actively promotes homosexuality and teaches girls that being a slut is not only OK, but it’s the way to “explore” their femininity.

The police are perhaps least to blame, but still culpable in this farce. It’s not really their job, but they could have stopped this tragedy in its tracks by just giving everyone involved a stern talking to. There was a time when your local sheriff would do that sort of thing. The block-headed state attorney who wants to imprison a young girl in her home for doing what popular culture has taught her to do also doesn’t have a leg to stand on morally.

And there is something seriously wrong with a state law that makes it a felony for two high school kids to date.

All of that said, the two girls obviously have a lot to learn about maturity. If this incident hasn’t scared them straight, so to speak, hopefully it’s at least taught them that they’re not ready to be dating.

The homosexual lifestyle that is being forced on the American public is destructive, and biblically it is a sin. This case shows that. But that doesn’t mean that in opposing homosexuality we should become tyrants and make human sacrifices of children just because we disagree with their choices.

Kaitlyn Hunt made a mistake, but we shouldn’t let her future be destroyed because of it.
